Dream Catcher AI — by djEnterprises

Last Updated: June 12, 2026

djEnterprises ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Dream Catcher AI mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes exactly what information the App handles, how it is collected, every way it is used, who receives it, and the controls you have. The short version: we require no account; your dreams are stored on your device; your health data never leaves your device; we never sell your data or use it to track you; and nothing is sent to the AI service until you choose to interpret a dream.

1. Information the App Collects and Processes

Dream Catcher AI is local-first. The dreams you capture, your journal entries, sketches, tags, moods, lucidity and vividness ratings, and your Totem reality-checks are stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, they sync through your own private iCloud account, which we cannot access.

Only in the specific cases below does any information leave your device:

  • Dream interpretation (opt-in). When — and only when — you ask the in-app companion to interpret a dream, the text of that dream and your follow-up messages are transmitted off your device to generate a reflective response, then returned to you. Up to your last several messages in that conversation are included so the companion can follow along. If you never use the interpreter, no dream content ever leaves your device.
  • Voice capture. If you speak a dream, transcription uses Apple's Speech framework, preferring on-device recognition where your device supports it. The resulting text is stored on your device like any typed dream.
  • Research feed. The App fetches publicly available sleep-and-mind research articles from reputable sources. This is a one-way fetch — no information about you is sent.

2. Health Data (Apple Health)

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Dream Catcher reads your sleep analysis to show you a gentle, on-device observation of how your sleep and your dream vividness relate. This calculation happens entirely on your device. Your health data is never transmitted off the device, never sent to us or to any third party, and never used for advertising or tracking. You can decline or revoke this access at any time in the Health app, and the App works fully without it.

3. What the App Does NOT Collect

The App does not collect: your name, email address or phone number, your location, device identifiers or advertising identifiers (no IDFA), account credentials (no account exists), usage analytics, or payment information (in-app purchases are handled entirely by Apple). The App uses no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. Our relay server keeps only standard, short-lived technical request logs (such as timestamps and token counts for security and cost monitoring); the content of your dreams is never written to our server's logs and is not stored on our servers.

4. How Information Is Used — All Uses

  • Generating reflections — your dream text and messages are used solely to produce the gentle reflection you asked for. The companion reflects and asks questions; it does not diagnose, predict, or give medical advice.
  • On-device sleep insight — your sleep data and your own vividness ratings are correlated locally to show a gentle observation. This never leaves your device.
  • Service protection — technical request logs (no dream content) are used to prevent abuse and monitor service costs.

There are no other uses. We do not use your data for advertising, tracking, profiling, analytics, or sale to anyone.

5. Who Receives Your Data — Third-Party Services

  • Anthropic (Claude API) — when you interpret a dream, your dream text and messages are sent to Anthropic to generate the reflection. Anthropic acts solely as a data processor for this App and does not train its models on content submitted through its API. Anthropic automatically deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, as described in its Privacy Policy and Commercial Terms.
  • Apple — handles your in-app purchase (we never see payment details). If you use voice input, your speech may be transcribed by Apple's speech-recognition service under Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Railway — hosts our relay server. Railway provides infrastructure only and does not access or process your personal data on our behalf.

Your Apple Health data is shared with no one — it never leaves your device. We have confirmed that each third party with whom the App shares any user data provides the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this policy. We never sell or rent any user data.

6. Your Consent and Controls

Dream interpretation is opt-in: nothing is sent to the AI service unless you choose to interpret a dream. Apple Health access is requested only when you choose to connect it, and you can revoke it anytime in the Health app. Capturing, journaling, sketching, and the Totem all work fully without ever sending anything off your device.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

  • djEnterprises servers — dream content is processed transiently to relay your request and is not retained after the reply is delivered. Technical request logs (no dream content) are kept briefly for security and cost monitoring.
  • Anthropic — see Section 5; API content is not used for training and is automatically deleted within 30 days.
  • Your device — your dreams, journal, sketches, and preferences are stored locally. Delete any dream in the App, or remove everything by uninstalling the App.

There is no account to delete because no account is ever created.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take prompt action.

9. Security

All communication between the App, our relay server, and Anthropic uses HTTPS encryption. Our Anthropic API key is never stored in the App — it lives only in secure environment variables on our server. We follow industry-standard security practices in our infrastructure.

10. A Note on the Dreamcatcher

The dreamcatcher originates with the Ojibwe (Anishinaabe) people. We use it in this App with respect and gratitude for its heritage.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
