Brimful — by djEnterprises
Last Updated: June 16, 2026
djEnterprises ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Brimful mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy describes exactly what information the App handles, how it is collected, every way it is used, who receives it, and the controls you have. The short version: no account is required, we never sell or share your data for advertising and never use it to track you, your pantry and saved recipes live on your device, and the photos and questions you send are used only to identify ingredients and generate the recipes and cooking help you ask for.
1. Information the App Collects and Processes
The App's core features — identifying the ingredients in a photo, generating recipes from what you have, and a Cooking Coach chat — are powered by an AI service. To provide them, the following is transmitted off your device when, and only when, you use the relevant feature:
- Photos you take to scan ingredients — when you point the camera at your pantry, fridge, counter, or a packaged label and capture a photo, that image is sent to our processing service so the AI can identify the food items in it. The photo is processed to return the ingredient list and is not stored on our servers and not linked to you or any account.
- Your ingredient list and recipe requests — the ingredients in your pantry (whether identified from a photo, read from a label, or added by you), plus your recipe options (how many store-bought items to allow, any dietary preferences you set, and serving choices), are sent so the AI can generate recipes that use what you have.
- Cooking Coach chat — when you ask the Cooking Coach a question, your question is sent, along with the recent messages in that chat (up to your last several turns) and the title and ingredients of the recipe you are asking about, so the Coach can give a relevant answer.
- Coach memory (stored on your device, and re-sent to keep the Coach in the loop) — if you tell the Coach a lasting preference (for example a diet, an allergy, a dislike, or a staple you are out of), the App saves a short note about it locally on your device and includes those saved notes as context with your future Coach questions so the Coach remembers you. These notes are capped and stay on your device; you can erase them at any time in Settings → Clear Coach memory.
How this is collected: you capture a photo, add or edit items, or type a question in the App. The App does not require or create an account, and it does not collect your name, email address or phone number, your location, your photo library (only the single photo you capture for a scan is used), device identifiers or advertising identifiers, usage analytics, or payment information. Purchases of Brimful Pro are handled entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details.
Your pantry items, saved recipes, cookbook entries, dietary preferences, cooking streak, and usage counts are stored only on your device (using Apple's on-device storage). They are not uploaded to us.
Our relay server keeps standard, short-lived technical request logs (such as IP address, timestamp, and message size for security and cost monitoring). The content of your photos and messages is not written to our server's logs and is not retained on our servers after your request is answered.
2. How That Information Is Used — All Uses
- Identifying ingredients — a scan photo is used solely to return the list of food items it contains.
- Generating recipes — your ingredient list and recipe options are used solely to produce the recipes you asked for, built from what you have.
- Cooking Coach answers — your question, recent chat, recipe context, and saved Coach memory are used solely to answer your cooking question.
- Service protection — technical request logs are used to prevent abuse and monitor service costs.
There are no other uses. We do not use your data for advertising, tracking, profiling, analytics, or sale to anyone. Brimful is a cooking app — it does not provide nutrition, calorie, medical, dietary, or health advice, and you should always verify cook times and food safety yourself.
3. Who Receives Your Data — Third-Party Services
When you use a feature powered by AI, your data travels from the App to our relay server, and from there to Anthropic, which generates the result:
- Anthropic (Claude API) — receives and processes your scan photos, ingredient lists and recipe requests, and Cooking Coach questions (with their recent chat and saved memory context) to generate the ingredient lists, recipes, and coaching replies. Anthropic acts solely as a data processor for this App and does not train its models on content submitted through its API. Anthropic automatically deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days, retaining content longer only where flagged for Usage Policy violations or required by law, as described in its Privacy Policy and Commercial Terms.
- Apple — handles your App Store purchase of Brimful Pro (we never see payment details), under Apple's Privacy Policy.
- Railway — hosts our relay server. Railway provides infrastructure only and does not access or process your personal data on our behalf.
We have confirmed that each third party with whom the App shares user data provides the same or equal protection of user data as stated in this policy. No other third party receives your data, and we never sell or rent any user data.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
- djEnterprises servers — your photo and message content is processed transiently to relay your request and is not retained after the result is delivered. Technical request logs (no photo or message content) are kept briefly for security and cost monitoring.
- Anthropic — see Section 3; API content is not used for training and is automatically deleted within 30 days.
- Your device — your pantry, saved recipes, cookbook, dietary preferences, and Coach memory are stored locally. You can erase Coach memory anytime in Settings → Clear Coach memory, delete individual pantry items and recipes within the App, and remove everything by deleting the App. Because there is no account, there is no server-side profile to delete; if you have any question about data deletion, contact us using Section 7 and we will help.
There is no account to delete because no account is ever created.
5. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take prompt action.
6. Security
All communication between the App, our relay server, and Anthropic uses HTTPS encryption. Our Anthropic API key is never stored in the App — it lives only in secure environment variables on our server. We follow industry-standard security practices in our infrastructure.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
