Frequently Asked Questions
What can Provenance scan?
Provenance values currency (coins and paper money), trading cards (sports and TCG), and comic books. Point your camera at an item and tap to scan — the App identifies it and estimates a value range from recent comparable sales.
Is the value a real appraisal?
No. Every value Provenance shows is an AI-generated estimate for informational purposes only — not a professional appraisal, and not financial advice. AI can be wrong and comparable-sales data can be incomplete. For insurance, a sale, or a purchase, always confirm with a qualified appraiser, dealer, or grading service before you rely on a number.
How do I restore my Provenance Pro purchase?
Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall or in Settings. It uses your Apple ID, so your one-time Provenance Pro unlock comes back on any device signed in to the same Apple account — no separate login needed.
How do I delete my data?
Provenance has no account and no sign-in, so there is nothing to "delete" on our side. Your scans and Vault items live entirely on your device: remove individual items by swiping them away in your Vault, or delete the App to erase all of its local data at once. Your scan images are never stored on our servers beyond the moment of the scan — see the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
Are my photos uploaded or kept?
Only during a scan. When you tap to scan, the photo is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and our AI provider (Anthropic) to identify and value the item, then discarded — it is not stored on our servers and is never used to train any AI model. The copy you keep stays on your device.
